AIAE launches E-Library The availability of the most up-to-date literature on economic and development matters, state of the art and cutting edge materials for the benefit of the users make AIAE library the first among its equals. The Executive Director, Professor Eric Eboh made this disclosure on the 15th of July, 2011 while welcoming the participants to the ‘Enlightenment Seminar on AIAE Library Resources’ which took place at the Institute’s Seminar Room. Professor Eboh said there is no one of its kind in East of the Niger in terms of status, image and reach, adding that the Institute was able to achieve this because of its active network in the global knowledge industry. He said the Seminar was organised in order to spread the impact of the Library to the community of researchers and users in a win-win situation. The Librarian, Miss Queeneth Anyanwu in her presentation titled, “AIAE Library Resources: What Makes the Difference” said the Library has about 2,270 physical collections, e-books, and 60 millions of e-journals. The availability of these materials and the use were demonstrated to the amazement of the participants. She particularly demonstrated access of the AIAE Library potential users to the celebrated JSTOR-(Journal Storage) a US based online system for archiving academic journals founded by William G. Bowen in 1995, OARE- Online Access to Research in the Environment – an international public private consortium coordinated by UNEP to enable developing countries gain access to environmental science research, Mendeley e-library and others. Miss Anyanwu also disclosed that the Library has now been automated to ease the use of these facilities. The participants paid glowing tributes to the Institute for the gesture and promised to take advantage of the benefit of using the facilities. |
