SENEC Study Group meets with Conference of South-East Governors South-East Nigeria Economic Commission (SENEC) study group meets with Conference of South-East Governors. As part of ongoing efforts to consult with stakeholders, particularly the Executive Governors of South-East States and key private sector leaders, the Study subcommittee of the South-East Nigeria Economic Commission (SENEC) held discussions with the Governors of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States, on Friday 18 January 2008. The discussions were aimed at finding ways to work together towards the realisation of the South-East Nigeria Economic Commission. At the meeting were His Excellencies: Mr. Theodore Orji, Governor of Abia State; Mr. Peter Obi, Governor of Anambra State; Chief. Martin Elechi, Governor of Ebonyi State; Barrister Sullivan Chime, Governor of Enugu State; and Mr Ikedi Ohakim, Governor of Imo State. The AIAE team included Prof. Eric Eboh, AIAE Executive Director, Engr. Sir. Chris Okoye, Chairman of the SENEC Interim Steering Committee and Prof. Ukwu I. Ukwu, Coordinator of the Study Subcommittee. The Governors expressed support for the Initiative and pledged the willingness of their respective state governments to work for the concetisation of the laudable idea. To demonstrate their support, the Governors decided to nominate state government representatives to the Interim Steering Committee. Henceforth, the Interim Steering Committee will work with the nominees of the respective State Governors to advance the work programme for the implementation of the Initiative . |
